How to Download Every Photo from an Instagram Carousel

Carousels hold up to 20 photos and videos. Here is how to save every slide at full resolution on any device, without a single screenshot.

A carousel is an Instagram post with several photos or videos you swipe through, up to 20 slides. Screenshotting them one by one loses quality and takes ages. Here is how to save every slide at full resolution in a minute or two, on any device.

  • In the Instagram app: tap the Share (paper plane) icon under the post and choose Copy link. You don’t need to be on the first slide; the link always points to the whole post.
  • On a computer: open the post on instagram.com and copy the address from the browser bar. It looks like instagram.com/p/AbCdEf12345/.

Step 2: Paste it into IG Downloader

Open IG Downloader or the Instagram photo downloader, paste the link and press Download. After a few seconds every slide appears in order, with a preview, its position (for example “3 of 8”) and its size.

Step 3: Save the slides you want

Each slide has its own Download button:

  • Photo slides download as a JPG at the largest size Instagram stores, often 1080 × 1350 or larger.
  • Video slides download as an MP4 with sound. You also get the audio track and the cover image as extra options.

Files are named after the account, the post and the slide number, for example creator-AbCdEf12345-3-photo.jpg, so they stay in the right order in your Downloads folder.

Can I download all slides at once?

Not as a single ZIP file. IG Downloader streams each file straight from Instagram to you without storing anything, so there is no copy on our side to bundle up. In practice it is quick to tap through the buttons one after another.

Browsers protect you from sites that try to start many downloads at once:

  • Chrome and Edge may ask “Download multiple files?” after the second or third file. Choose Allow.
  • Safari on iPhone asks you to confirm each download. Tap Download each time.

Where do the photos end up?

On a computer, in your Downloads folder. On iPhone they go to Files → Downloads; open each photo and choose Share → Save Image to add it to Photos. On Android they appear in the Downloads folder and usually in a Download album in your gallery. Our guide to where downloaded files are saved has the details for every device.

Getting the best quality

  • Use the photo, not the cover. For video slides the cover image is just a still frame; for photo slides the Photo option is always the full-size file.
  • Don’t screenshot. A screenshot is limited to your screen size, includes interface elements and is re-compressed.
  • Check the size before saving. IG Downloader shows each photo’s dimensions, so you know what you are getting.

Troubleshooting

Only some slides appear

Instagram occasionally hides individual slides for some regions or age groups. If a slide is missing, open the post in a private browser window while logged out: if you can’t see the slide there, it can’t be downloaded.

“We couldn’t find a public post at that link”

The account may be private, or the post may have been archived or deleted. Only posts that anyone can see without logging in can be downloaded.

Links are temporary. Paste the carousel link again to get fresh ones.

Respect the photographer

Carousel photos are often someone’s professional work. Save them for your own reference and inspiration, and ask before reposting or using them commercially. Our article on copyright and downloading Instagram content explains the basics.
