How to download Instagram videos

The same simple steps work for every kind of public Instagram video.

  1. Step 1: Copy the post link

    In the Instagram app tap the Share (paper plane) icon on the reel or post and choose Copy link. On a computer, copy the address from your browser bar.

  2. Step 2: Paste it into IG Downloader

  3. Step 3: Choose what to save

How do I download an Instagram video to my computer?
Open the post on instagram.com, copy the address from the browser bar, paste it above and click Download. Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari save it to your Downloads folder.

What format are Instagram videos saved in?
Videos are saved as standard MP4 files (H.264 video with AAC audio), which play on every phone, computer, smart TV and video editor.

Can I download a video from a carousel post?
Yes. Paste the post link and every slide is listed separately. Videos get an MP4, an audio track and a cover image; photos get a full-size JPG.

Can I download IGTV and longer videos?
Yes. Links with /tv/ work like any other video post. Longer videos simply take longer to download, depending on your connection.

Can I download Instagram Live videos?
Only after the broadcast has ended and the creator has shared the replay as a public post or reel. Live streams themselves can’t be saved.
