How to download Instagram Reels

The same four steps work in the Instagram app and on the website.

  1. Step 1: Copy the post link

    In the Instagram app tap the Share (paper plane) icon on the reel or post and choose Copy link. On a computer, copy the address from your browser bar.

  2. Step 2: Paste it into IG Downloader

    Paste the link into the box at the top of this page and press Download.

  3. Step 3: Choose what to save

    Pick the HD MP4 for videos, Audio for the soundtrack only, or Photo for full-size pictures. Carousels list every slide separately.

  4. Step 4: Save the file

    Your browser downloads the file to its usual Downloads folder (the Files app on iPhone, Downloads on Android and computers).

Save reels to your phone or computer

Instagram lets you save reels inside the app, but those saves disappear if the creator deletes the reel and they never leave your account. IG Downloader gives you a real MP4 file instead: it reads the public reel page, finds the video with sound that belongs to your link, and streams it to your device with a clear file name.

On a phone

In the Instagram app tap the Share icon on the reel and choose Copy link, then open this page in Chrome, Safari or Samsung Internet, paste and download. On iPhone the file lands in the Files app; tap Share → Save Video to move it to Photos.

On a computer

Open the reel on instagram.com, copy the address from the browser bar, paste it above and press Download. The MP4 is saved to your Downloads folder.

How do I download an Instagram Reel?
Open the reel, tap the Share icon and choose Copy link. Paste the link above, press Download and choose the HD MP4.

What quality are downloaded reels?
You get the same MP4 with sound that Instagram plays in the browser, usually 720p (HD) with AAC audio. Instagram’s own app may stream a sharper copy, but that copy has no sound track built in.

Is there a watermark on the downloaded reel?
No. IG Downloader doesn’t add anything to the file. You get the video exactly as Instagram stores it.

Can I save just the music from a reel?
Yes. Every video result includes an Audio option that saves the soundtrack as an M4A file. The Reels audio downloader lists it first.

Does the creator know I downloaded their reel?
