Step 2: Paste it into IG Downloader
Paste the link into the box at the top of this page and press Download.
-
Step 3: Choose what to save

Your browser downloads the file to its usual Downloads folder (the Files app on iPhone, Downloads on Android and computers).

Carousels and photos
A carousel is a post with up to 20 photos and videos you swipe through. Paste its link once and every slide is listed in order, each with its own preview and download button:
- Photo slides download as JPG at the largest size Instagram stores.
- Video slides download as MP4 with sound, with the audio track and cover image as extra options.
Browsers ask before saving many files at once, so save slides one after another. The Instagram photo downloader page explains photo sizes in more detail.
Choosing the right format
| Option | What it is | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| HD MP4 | Video with sound, usually 720p | Watching, sharing, archiving |
| Audio M4A | The soundtrack only (AAC) | Music, talks, transcription |
| Photo JPG | A photo at original size | Photo posts and carousel slides |
| Cover image JPG | The still frame shown before a video | Thumbnails and previews |
Troubleshooting
“We couldn’t find a public post at that link”
The account may be private, or the post was deleted, archived or age-restricted. Open the link in a private browser window while logged out; if you can’t see it there, it can’t be downloaded.
“Stories, highlights and profiles can’t be downloaded”
Instagram only shows these to logged-in users, and IG Downloader never asks for your account. Use a link to a post, reel or video instead.
The download link expired
Instagram’s file links are signed and expire after a while. Paste the original post link again to get fresh download links.
The video plays in the browser instead of downloading
Use the Download button next to the file you want; it always saves a file. If your browser still opens the video, right-click or long-press it and choose Save video as….
